Microsoft’s Worldwide Telescope - a comprehensive view of the universe. I’d love to see what my old astrology professor would do with this. Very inspirational work by Microsoft.

JessePickard.com mentioned in Going Social Now...
I’m very happy to have been mentioned in Shiv Singh’s Going Social Now blog. He mentions my thoughts from a conversation we had last week about Facebook’s slumping UK and US numbers. To summarize, I think ” Facebook Fatigue” is less about total disenchantment of the Facebook by all users, and more about the natural product lifecycle for Adult (25+) Facebook users....

Blogosphere: Facebook might open up their news feed to all websites. This means that stories can be sent to the news feed from any third party site (like beacon, but outside the original partners) Is this a good move or bad move?
Me: Hmm, this is a tough one. The news feed is Facebook's number one feature and it's tough to say that it's a good idea to mess with it. However, I think that if Facebook can create a system that can't be gamed by spammy companies, this can be pretty good. Personally, I think the news feed needs a little spicing up. I'd like to see stories about my friends doing things all over the web (just as long as it is user-intiated). It will help me learn more about my friends and the services they use. I just hope FB provides all the user control needed so we don't have another PR bungle.
Great post on finding top blogs in any niche. IMHO, It’s the best way to get up to speed on a new product category http://tinyurl.com/367ulo
Dancejam.com looks promising
Dancejam.com allows users to dance battle each other online. I’m not even part of the Beta and I’m betting on this one. UGC Dance is so HUGE that if Dancejam can create just a decent competitive experience, I think they’ll get a great response. Plus, MC Hammer is one of the founders, so how can anybody hate it.
www.idiomag.com reminds me of joost. Good idea, sleek, innovative but will fail because their content is sub par.

MyBlogLog API in action Spotted over at http://kentbrewster.com/ Sorry for the terrible audio. I promise I’ll get a microphone soon. Anyways, the video shows me walking through the app which takes advantage of the recently released MyBlogLog API. Unpolished, but still very cool.

I like what www.FastCompany.com is trying to do, but they have some serious tweaking ahead of them. Too many features, mediocre design.

Blogosphere: How will social networks ever make money?
Me: Social networks will find success in diversifying their revenue streams, crafting an ad experience that keeps users on their platform, and somehow getting advertisers to pay for engagement over clickthroughs. Overall, extreme innovation will be needed to create entirely new ad solutions. Think Beacon 2.0, hopefully without the PR mess-ups.
redirecting www.jessepickard.com to my tumblog. It’s a better fit for how I like to share and record thoughts.
